2023 Montana Pro Rodeo Circuit Finalist Cadee Williams

Which horse(s) are you taking to the finals? Dropit Likeitz Hott (aka Scandal)

What is unique about their personality and what are their strengths? How tall are they and what is their weight (thought it would be fun to compare)? 13.3 Hands – 1100 lbs. 7 years old. She has a very big and mischievous personality, and she loves to untie herself. If you warm her up, you would think she is a kids horse, but when she knows her job she is very explosive. She has a big heart for her little stature and gives 110% when she’s in the arena!

When did you start competing in breakaway? 8 years old

How long have you been a WPRA member?
3 Years

Do you raise your own horses? Or do you purchase? Are you looking for specific bloodlines? My dad (Clay Tew) purchased Scandal specifically for a breakaway horse, and I like looking for horses similarly bred to her since she has been so good. She is Hottish x Miss Peppys Moped.

What are your conditioning and workout routines for both you and your horse(s)? Scandal gets exercised 4-5 times a week but only gets roped on if we are preparing to go somewhere soon. I weight train/run 4-5x a week.

When you're headed to the rodeo what do you listen to: inspirational podcasts, music, audio books?
All of the above. We spend a lot of time in the truck, so we mix it up.

Do you have favorite spots to stop at while on the road? I love stopping at local coffee shops. I also won’t pass up anywhere with a huckleberry milkshake or a Taco Time!

Who do you travel with (including pets or companion horses) and in what kind of rig? I travel with my husband and kids and we always have Scandal and the kids pony (Graham Cracker) with us! We travel in a Chevrolet from Frank Kent Cadillac & living quarters.

What are your favorite memories/highlights and obstacles you faced getting to the 2023 circuit finals? I had a baby (Win) June 20th and was not able to attend any rodeos until Stanford which was in mid-July. I struggled most of the summer to place anywhere. It seemed like a slow “comeback” to my roping – but we made irreplaceable memories with a new baby by our side. I spent so much time with Win over the summer enjoying all the newborn cuddles. Even though I was struggling in the arena, it was such a great summer with our new baby. We love Montana summers, and we soaked up all the moments as much as we could. To top our summer off, Scandal and I came through at the last couple of rodeos of the year. We thankfully won enough to make the circuit finals! I was so excited to make it after the way I had roped at the rodeos. The summer en route to our 2023 circuit finals qualification was unforgettable in so many good ways with our new family of 5!

What or who are you thankful for? I am so thankful for my family. They love to rodeo as much as I do. My husband works very hard so we can rodeo. My kids love every second of being on the road and going to roping’s and rodeos and are very involved in rodeo. I am very thankful that they love this lifestyle as much as I do. I am also thankful to have such a good horse that I can count on in so many different set ups. Scandal has dealt with me not being able to ride good at all after having three kids, so I am extremely thankful she is so forgiving of my riding! We are also grateful for our awesome sponsors helping us pursue our passion.

What are your hobbies or other sports you compete in? I love to ski!
